Enjoy the diversity of Ville St-Laurent’s restaurants

Ville St-Laurent is the largest of Montreal’s boroughs, and one where various cultures live together. This ethnic diversity means there are many traditional restaurants scattered around the area. Everything from traditional Italian, Greek, Indian, and even kosher and halal options all find a home in Ville St-Laurent, which means great dining options for you! Chez Benny Express is a kosher restaurant with traditional Middle Eastern salads, as well as pita and laffa sandwiches. They offer kosher burgers and more Americanized sandwiches, as well as kosher Chinese food too. Their wonton soup is actually delicious! They have vegan options, and the best falafel sandwich that you’ve ever tried.

Décarie Hotdog

Décarie Hot Dogs is where you go for a steamie hot dog and poutine in Ville St-Laurent. This hole-in-the-wall late night spot, which opened in 1969, is known all over Montreal, and is a landmark on Décarie Street. Their diner-style breakfast and bacon cheeseburger are also delicious, but their steamie is the Montreal classic that everyone is talking about!

Elounda

1818, boul de la cote-Vertu, Saint-Laurent, QC H4L 2A6

With a large Greek community, Elounda brings Greek fine dining to Ville St-Laurent. They have the classics like fried calamari, Greek salad, octopus, fresh fish by the pound and lamb chops. But they also have stuffed calamari, grilled zucchini saganaki and crab cakes – all prepared with Mediterranean flair. Elounda is a Ville St-Laurent secret that you’ll want to discover!

Restaurant Kuljit India

1904 Boul Thimens, Saint-Laurent, QC H4R 2K2

Kuljit India is such a well kept Ville St-Laurent secret that even locals don’t know about it! This hole-in-the-wall BYOW Indian restaurant serves some of the best Indian food that we’ve ever had. Their samosas are incredible, and we love their butter chicken and lamb korma with plenty of naan bread on the side.

Boucherie Abu Elias

733, boul de la cote-Vertu, Saint-Laurent, QC H4L 1Y3

This halal butcher shop and sandwich counter is known for its meat cooked over charcoal. You can buy raw meat (marinated or not) to grill at home, or your favourite Arabic pita sandwiches like their soujouk sausage pita or lamb pita. They sell other Middle Eastern treats like tabbouleh and some of the best hummus in the city.

Opting to have a salad used to mean that you were on a diet, but not anymore! Today there are so many unique combinations and eating salad is now about satisfying a craving, not going on a diet. We love clean eating when it tastes good! [image creditl: iStockphoto]
Let’s face it, we’re only happy about Thanksgiving because we get a day off from work! It’s not a big holiday like our neighbours to the south but that doesn’t mean we can’t go out and celebrate with a good meal and a fun experience. Here are some fun Montreal alternatives to the traditional turkey dinner. We’re thankful that we live in Montreal with all of these amazing restaurants!
When we think of Mother’s Day we tend to think of brunch, but plenty of mothers would rather go out for dinner! These restaurants are open on Sunday nights, including Mother’s Day, and vary from French, to Italian, to Syrian, to Spanish and more. There is something for every mother and their finicky palate![image credit: iStock]
