Cookies go with cream, bees go with honey, mashed potatoes go with gravy and, at Stack, fresh and hearty diner food goes with upmarket dining. “I grew up helping out in my dad’s and uncle’s diner which they opened in Leaside in the 1960s,” says Stack owner, Bill Panos. “I learned that it’s all about good quality, homemade food. Then I worked in corporate restaurants so learned about great service and ambience.”
Bill took the best of both worlds and opened his smoked-meat specialty spot in 2012.
“I just think that nothing can beat the taste of smoked food. It’s my passion.” When you visit Stack, you can wash all this divinely tasty food down with a craft beer from one of nine Canadian boutique breweries.

Asked for a place to sit to wait for a table as I am handicap. The manager said-- oh I am sorry you have a sore knee. I was smashed between 2 cars and can walk. Real asshole of a manager, rude, stupid, condescending. The restaurant might be busy this night but with jerks like this running your restaurant it will not always be that way. Avoid this restaurant. The I said I don't think I will stay, manager say, I think that is a good idea..

This midtown restaurant takes its inspiration from our neighbours to the south, and this is especially evident in their pulled pork sandwiches. There is a total of three pulled pork sandwiches on the menu, and they make sure to have the main barbecue regions covered. Whether it’s smothered in Carolina barbecue sauce or Lexington vinegar sauce, whichever sandwich you choose, it’s a winner.

But you’ve gotta save room for their epic dessert. Stack Donuts ($8) are mini doughnuts just like at The Ex, stacked in a tower, and then covered in your choice of toppings.

Here the meaty and tender baby back ribs are double smoked in a Southern Pride barbecue pit, slathered in your choice of barbecue sauce and served with your choice of fries, slaw or smoky molasses baked beans. If you’re feeling really ravenous, supersize your rack or get your rib fix as part of the ultimate BBQ platter, which also features pulled pork, quarter chicken and smoked meat. Still have room for dessert? Try the made-to-order creamy cinnamon doughnut milkshake that blends fresh baked doughnuts with rich vanilla ice cream.
