Over a decade of excellent Chinese

My family has been ordering takeout and occasionally sitting in at Paul Wong's for 14 years. Though the food an sometimes be greasy, the vast majority of Chinese here is and it's still consistently the best in Pickering (better than Mandarin in my opinion, since the latter restaurant has been Americanizing its cuisine more and it doesn't taste home-cooked). The food is usually very flavourful and well cooked. My favourites are the signature fried rice, egg rolls, and beef with veggies. Th staff has always been courteous and helpful and the ambiance is more intimate and pleasant than Mandarin's. I remember always admiring the fish pond when I was a young girl. Nothing has changed since I was four - and that's why Paul Wong's has my loyalty.

The food, service, atmosphere and hospitality is excellant, I tell everyone to go there. I have been going there since 3.5 years and even when I moved out of the area I went back and took family and friends. So Far no one had a complaint. The wait for your food was very short and there was always a waiter available to help it you needed anything. VERY NICE AND CLEAN PLACE.

This is consistently the best Chinese food we have. My wife and I prefer to get it delivered as opposed to going to the actual restaurant, which is a bit dated inside. The food is always fresh, hot and delicious. Our friends introduced Paul Wong's to us, and we have never ordered from anywhere else since.

Wasn't sure what to expect and was disappointed

Had decided to eat in Pickering for dinner on the way to meet a friend and settled on this restaurant based on the reviews here. Being Chinese and having a lifetime of experience eating Chinese food biases my opinion, yet, I believe makes me more qualified to gauge the quality of the food. Having grown up in a Chinese-Canadian restaurant I tend not to order items such as egg rolls, chicken balls or chop suey. That said, my gf and I tried to order more authentic Chinese dishes: Mandarin Dumplings (6) - to be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect because I'd never heard of such a thing before...and wanting to be somewhat adventurous we ordered them without asking what they were. They turned out to be what I normally consider pork filled steamed dumplings except that they were pan-fried. The filling was standard but pan-frying them seemed to make them a little denser & heavier than they should be. General Tao Chicken - is interesting to order because every restaurant seems to have their own version. The sauce was very hoisin heavy and the chunks of chicken were almost the size of plums. My gf liked the size of the chicken but I believe that like most Chinese dishes the pieces should be bite-sized. All things considered, this was begrudgingly the best dish. Peking Beef - as my gf put it, "the sauce tastes like gravy & barbeque sauce..." The beef was quite tender though which was nice. House Special Fried Rice - personally (as does my gf), I prefer fried rice that isn't fried in soy sauce. I know that a lot of people might like this or only know fried rice like this but I don't think it adds to the taste and it usually leaves the fried rice too loose. That aside, the House Special contains chicken, bbq pork, shrimp, green onions/scallions & bean sprouts (which I don't think should be in fried rice...but then I hate carrots in fried rice as well). The staff were very cordial and attentive. Very nice people. The decor was neither here nor there.
