Justin Gauthier was enjoying a trip to New York City when suddenly a light-bulb idea went off in his head that would totally change the course of his life. “I saw a lot of cold-pressed juice bars in NYC and I thought, 'This is exactly what Ottawa needs,'” he recalls.
Justin had been diagnosed with Crohn's disease years prior to his trip and had lost hope in the medical system, whose answer to his illness was prescription drugs that left him feeling even worse. He decided to take his health into his own hands and sought alternative opinions from nutritionists and naturopaths. “I took responsibility for my own healing and I really hammered down on nutrition, which included juicing,” says Justin. “I have been symptom-free and healthy for four years.”
Justin's trip to NYC became the catalyzing inspiration to bring his personal path to good health straight into a brand-new career. In 2013 Justin opened Urban Juice Press, Ottawa’s first cold-pressed juice company, to build and share on the life-changing knowledge that had, in many ways, saved his own.
