For Bonnie Todd, foodie culture was something of an acquired taste. “As an early twenty-something, I couldn't have cared less about food,” she laughs. “But it slowly grew on me. I lived in Europe for a year, and that was a big life changer, in terms of my culinary experiences. It was really when I started to travel that I got adventurous in terms of eating.”
Today, culinary experiences are Bonnie's specialty; she regularly shares that adventurous spirit with diners all over Vancouver and Victoria as the owner of Off The Eaten Track, a culinary tour company that showcases delicious gourmet cuisine in out-of-the-way places. “Our philosophy as a company was to take people into different neighbourhoods to food stops that are all small businesses,” she notes. "People are still curious about food tourism. And people want a local experience. So we wanted to show them places they might not otherwise know about.”
