A little slice of Canadian history can be found at Lougheed House, a provincial and national historic site located in Calgary’s Beltline district. The restored sandstone home was built in 1891 and served as the residence of Senator and Lady Lougheed and their six children. “There is really no other house like it in the province or on the Prairies today,” says executive director Kirstin Evenden. “It’s still a gem that people are rediscovering as a historic site.”

Self-guided and audio tours are available during opening hours, with interpreter-guided tours subject to availability. The house also features a gift shop and art gallery housed in the lower level ballroom as well as a restaurant that serves lunch and brunch.
