We came in and the hostess was very nice and then it went down from there. The music was quite loud, the food was barely warm and the pasta was quite soggy and extremely salty. The manager (owner) was at the door when we left and he was too busy texting to thank us for our business.
An Edmonton mainstay on the pasta scene for the last 20 years, SPK does southern Italian cuisine in a large romantically lit room. SPK offers a wide selection of pasta dishes in large portions (you can always take leftovers home for lunch the next day) and does a really good Bolognese. Try the tagliatelle Bolognese or the penne arrabiata for winning pasta dishes.
This Italian gem is located right on Jasper Avenue – that, combined with its stellar cuisine, makes it a popular destination for everyone, not just those who work and live downtown. The menu features a huge variety of pasta, pizza, salads and classic Italian entrees, such as veal scallopine and rack of lamb. But it is the heavenly pasta that is the star here, with 16 different varieties, plus gluten-free and vegetarian options. And, of course, don’t skip the antipasti – Italian appetizers are always delightful.
This is one of the best places in the city to enjoy a hearty dish of pasta. It has been serving up Italian cuisine for more than 20 years, and people still flock to it. Their pizza is just as mouth-watering as their pasta dishes but don’t overlook the
carne e pesci, with choices such as pan-seared Atlantic salmon, chicken in a white wine garlic sauce and a rack of lamb with port fig sauce.
