When it's late and you're still hungry in Quebec City

When those night cravings hit, don’t ignore them on the pretext that everything is closed! Whether it’s after a big night out, post-show, or you’re just plain hungry, there are plenty of great places where you can fill your belly late into the night. Here are a few solid options to get you started.

Snack Bar St-Jean

1
780, rue Saint-Jean, Québec, QC G1R 1P9

Located on rue Saint-Jean, this is an excellent place for a quick, very late-night meal. It’s easy to remember the telephone number, which really makes people laugh (522-GRAS), but even more memorable are the large, generous portions of poutine covered with cheese and the Interburger (a cheeseburger topped with cheese curds and French onions).

Restaurant Le Projet

2
399, rue Saint-Jean, Québec, QC G1R 1N8

Both a neighbourhood restaurant and bar, Le Projet, on rue Saint-Jean, has a solid selection of beers from Quebec microbreweries, which go well with the poutine (barbecue sauce, please!), juicy burgers and other fast food inspired snacks, always made with fresh, quality products.

Sapristi Bistro Bar

3
1001, rue Saint-Jean, Québec, QC G1R 1R8

On rue Saint-Jean, it can be a challenge to find a late-night option that isn’t a tourist trap. Fortunately, at Sapristi, you'll be avoiding those pricey tourist traps and you can enjoy pizza (also available for takeout), including one topped with pulled pork, where the BBQ sauce made with beer and Quebec cheese. The Mac n' Cheese with five cheeses and bacon will help to soak up drinks you may have been enjoying earlier in the evening.

Casse-Croûte Pierrot

4
109, 10E rue, Québec, QC G1L 2M3

This restaurant is well known to Limoulois as a great place for delicious, traditional fast food. Casse-Croûte Pierrot, on 10th Avenue, has its share of regulars, which is no surprise. It’s open 24 hours (and delivers until 5:30 am) and its poutine comes in gigantic portions!

La Cuisine

5
205, rue de Saint-Vallier E, Québec, QC G1K 3P2

You stay up late on rue Saint-Vallier Est! In an adorably colourful retro-kitsch setting, the team of La Cuisine serves comfort food at ridiculously low prices until late. The menu varies and is always great, but the grilled cheese is always there and well worth a try. Note: L’Autre Cuisine, on rue Myrand, is La Cuisine’s little sister restaurant.

Becoming a parent is often synonymous with "brunching often." When you have kids, it’s just that much easier to go out for lunch than for a three-hour dinner! Here are are a few places where the brats are welcome, without skimping on quality or ambiance for mum and dad.
Coffee fanatics will tell you: to test the talent of a barista (or "master of the coffee machine"), nothing beats an espresso. So, prepare your small cups, because the following establishments will give you quite a caffeine boost!
