This West Island's retail music store has maintained a close, friendly relationship with all of its customers. This philosophy has kept us in touch with musicians of all levels.
Needed repair, thorough maintenance and new strings for an old electric guitar.
Service:
Musitec took time on the phone to discuss whatever asked without feeling rushed. Results were top quality. One star is lost here due to the estimated completion time being off by quite a bit (1 week vs. 2 weeks 4 days).
Pricing:
Original quote was $60. Even with a large unexpected problem, final price was $75. Very reasonable.
Would I recommend?
Definitely.
All future service will be bought here.
We would like to comment on the one negative review given us .We did service the guitar in question. The customer had asked that we try to eliminate some buzzing up the neck of the instrument and to change the strings. Not knowing his taste in set-ups we did a standard little setup. He took the guitar but brought it back to be further adjusted, which was done"no Charge".To achieve what we honestly thought he was asking for,we filed a fret,we worked on the saddle etc. The "big hit" he speaks about was $30.00 This includes changing the strings as he requested. We sincerely apologize to the customer If he feels overcharged but we do have hundreds of clients who trust their instruments only to us.
I took my limited edition Ovation 'Demented Series' to Music Tec because my neck was a bit off and to change my strings. That's all I asked for. When I went to pick it up yesterday, I was hit with a larger bill than I expected and then he told me what else they had done to it.
In order to get better 'action', they removed the shim from under the saddle and some other stuff. I never complained about the action because for me it was fine. What right do they have to do stuff to my guitar if I don't ask for it!? It's almost as bad as going to a Mechanic, asking the guy to 'check' why my engine light is on and he goes ahead and changes my fuel pump or some other major organ without asking me before doing so. A guitar or any instrument is a personal item. If I like it the way it is (except the neck) then they have no right to screw with it!
