The story of Glass Experts - Vitrerie des experts began with Bill Pappas working in the glass division of a hardware store in the mid-’80s. “People kept asking for different things,” recalls Bill. “I realized they were requesting a lot more decorative pieces. We found more and more people requesting custom items. It did not take long before he realized there was a niche market of custom glass services that was not being catered to. Not long after this, he opened Vitrerie des experts / Glass Experts. That was in 1986 and people are still approaching Bill, asking for custom glass work for their homes and businesses across North America.
With an attention to detail and an ear to what clients were looking for, he persevered through the grind of a start-up. Slowly but surely, Glass Experts - Vitrerie des experts became a leader in custom glass, mirrors, doors and tables for both residential and commercial projects. “We built it piece by piece, put in lots of hours, seven days a week, and we got busier,” says Bill. “I did the service and the installation – all of it. But as we got busier, we [hired] more people. Then, we bought a piece of equipment and another piece of equipment, and that’s how it went.” Now, they have more than 20 people on staff and three divisions.
