I've been to Ichiban several times for their all-you-can-eat menu. The quality of the ingredients is quite high and the presentation is lovely.
I will admit that the service is a little slow at times as the lone waitress on Sundays struggles to keep up with all the tables. This restaurant (like many sushi places) should really consider hiring more wait staff. That being said, the woman I've had has always been quite friendly.
If you plan on attending, I'd recommend going at an off time for the obvious reasons mentioned above.
Sidenote--the BBQ eel sushi and spicy salmon roll are delicious.Read more
My colleague and I visited London for a conference (Apr 11-14, 2011) and we were told by another colleague (who lived in London for a year) that this sushi place is great. We arrived and was taken aback by the all-you-can-eat-price of 25.99 plus tax per person. Back in suburban Toronto, the prices would range from 18.99-23.99 and you would only find 25.99 all you can eat prices at expensive downtown Toronto restaurants. The menu was disappointing because although the menu list looked large, it really was just one column of things to pick from. (The right side column was just the English translation.) By the second round of order, we found ourselves looking at the menu and saying "Well we already had spicy salmon rolls but I guess we'll order that again..." There really was a lack of variety for the price we paid. As well, there was no unlimited shrimp tempura, soup, or salad - these were just a one time order per table. There was no ice cream for dessert either. In terms of the food, there was the good and the bad. The miso soup was delicious! The tempura was ok. The sushi salmon/tuna rolls were pretty good. There was a weird roll - asparagus roll, in which it was a single small piece of asparagus within the roll. It almost looked like a green pea roll! The sweet potato roll was not good - the sweet potato was undercooked. Overall, the rolls weren't tightly wrapped and sometimes fell apart as you picked it up. Another complaint was the sushi - there was too much rice that it was almost a ball of rice underneath the fish rather than the usual flat rectangular piece of rice. The service was pretty good. The server was attentive and nice. The restaurant is a family business and we showed up late in the night. It was endearing to watch that the family sit together at the end of the night to eat their dinner after a hard day at work.Read more
I have been to Kawa several times since moving to the area and have also ordered takeout from kawa and it has been nothing but delicious. The restaurant is super cute, it almost feels like you are eating in your own kitchen, The wait staff are super friendly, helpful and quick. My take-out experiences have been jsut as wonderful and the food is ALWAYS fresh. I will never go to another sushi restaurant other than kawa, it's that amazing. I really can't say anything negative about this place, it's the bees knees.Read more

Ive been to several sushi restaurants in London including Kawa, Wonder, etc. and Sushi Ya has hands down the best maki and nigiri I've had in the city. Lots and lots of options for rolls, doesn't stick to the bog standard, which seems to be one of the biggest issues for every other sushi restaurant in London. Creative and delicious combinations.
Fair prices, the box deals are a great value.
The couple that runs it are very pleasant and nice, plus its a really small place, pretty adorable stuff.
Highly recommended to all.Read more

Ye's sushi is probably one of the best places in the whole K-W area to get sushi. It is truly a wonderful experience. The service was good, nothing to complain. The atmosphere was not all that good, but all of those dissapointments were made up in the food. The food is phenomenal; there is nothing thats "adequate" about it. It is really a "one of a kind" experience for any of you that haven't had sushi. The portions are nicely sized, and overall well worth the money. Would I visit again? Absolutely!Read more
This place is worth the trip to the mall! Everything is sizzling fresh and the udon noodle soup is amazing. You have to wait a bit for it to be made but grab a seat -- it is so worth it! I have been living here for just a month and really wanted to see what Guelph had to offer with japanese cuisine! Many of my friends suggested that I try w sushi so I decided to go with one of my girlfriends that was a returning customer. We arrived for dinner and was greeted with the most kind and helpful waitress ever, we were seated and brought drinks. Our waitress was very helpful, her English was okay, but there was a server there who had perfect English so communication was not a problem. The place was pretty full and busy but not with large groups so the place wasnt loud. The food was very good and the rice was warm and moist, which means they just cooked it. I had a lot to eat and would definitely recommend their sweet shrimp banana roll and the guelph roll, they were both fabulous! Everything was great and I will definitely be a returning customer, and recommending to my friendsRead more

I haven't really been to many sushi places but i really liked Fuji's, the only thing i didn't like was that the waiters didn't speak very good English and they seemed more into talking to themselves then the customers there.

I love this place! Their sushi is actually DELICIOUS!!! I'm always full after I go here...in fact, I vomited once from being too full. I love that they have stamp cards!!! So fun!!
Their signature 'hockey sushi' is seriously SLAMMIN!!! However, I discovered a fish bone in the sushi once...and upon closer inspection, I found out that the outer layer of the hockey sushi is actually fish skin! This turned me off! I wish I hadn't made that discovery because this roll is fantastic.
The location is fairly remote... my GPS was going completely NUTS on the way here. Up hill, down hill, through construction zones- getting here was a journey in itself! But worth it! soooo good! SOOOOO good!!!Read more

After reading a few reviews on this place I can see possibly where the feeling of "pretentious" comes from. However, our experience was quite enjoyable. Our server was attentive, and polite, although seemed like she was trying to rush us a bit. The food was excellent as far as I was concerned. The sushi was fresh, and the coconut shrimp is excellent. I admit I noticed the prices on the menu were steep for certain items like the steak mentioned in the previous review (almost $30 for 12oz), but generally for this type of formal more upscale restaurant the prices are satisfactory and in check. I would definetely go back to Koi, especially in the summer where the patio looks very nice. Even just for some drinks and some apps (the tempura was also very good). No doubt, there may be better sushi houses around but overall to please a varied palette, Koi is quite delicious.Read more

I used to live in the neighborhood of this restaurant and would frequent it often. It is certainly not the least expensive Japanese restaurant in the city but I'd be hard pressed to find a better one.
The sushi is always fresh and well made, Maki rolls are seasoned with chives and wasabi. Gyoza and Miso Soup are good, as expected, two things that can't really be done wrong. In the past I've had their lunch bento boxes which are a good value and are of the same quality as their dinner menu.
Only complaints I'd have about this restaurant: Parking is not provided so you're at the mercy of the local pay lots.
Also, when the restaurant gets really busy it gets very tight as it is a small place, and service gets really slow, But with that being said the owners are very kind and friendly.
Overall, a very good restaurant with excellent food.Read more

I came to this restaurant for my father's birthday and the food was incredible. It is an authetic portuguese restaurant on James street in Hamilton. For an appetizer we had the Bruchetta, which is baked pizza style bread topped with tomato, onion and garlic. Yumm! For the dish I ate the Filete com arroz, which is fish filete with seafood rice. The dish cost $17 but was really cheap considering the amount of food that was provided. I will definetely return to this restaurant and recommend anyone to try this place. They have a large menu with many options. If you havent tried portuguese food or just love the food, you wont be disappointed at the Wild Orchid.Read more

I am Japanese and I like this restaurant! I have ordered Sushi only. I haven't tried other menus yet.
Sushi is good quality and service is good. I pay around 10 dollars for sushi. (5 pieces of sushi and 8 pieces of maki rolls) It's very very affordable.
If other people complain that it's not the best quality, this is not the place to go. You can't get the best quality for 10 bucks. Please go to restaurant owned by Japanese.
However, if you're looking for affordable, decent quality sushi, I highly recommend Bento Box.
I've been to 4 other Japanese restaurants in Burlington but I only go to Bento Box now.Read more
