Got catering from this restaurant. Not only did the guy give us the wrong dish. But the 2 dishes we ordered were TERRIBLE. worst indian food i've ever had in my life. Save your money and time and Do not come here. It was embarrassing serving this nasty food. We had to throw a lot of it out. Even their naan wasnt good, and how could you possibly mess that up.
I went there expecting it to be something great from all these reviews. I don't understand. I had the butter chicken. It's the second worst butter chicken I've ever had. It tasted like it was made with chicken stock. It was very bland and did not taste like Indian food at all. My bf had the lamb curry dish. It was alright. I guess I can't say this was an awful restaurant but for an Indian place to mess up butter chicken that badly I won't come here again.
I am vegetarian and LOVE coming here because of the options!! It is great when the menu includes separate sections for veg food. My most favourite part about India Palace is that the samosas come on a little plate of chana masala. Yummmmmmmm! The other veg food is great - I have tried mostly everything by now and recommend the Malai Kofta and Saag Paneer. The waiter is so sweet and humble. Sometimes the service is a little slow but who cares?! The food is well worth the wait.
I have been eating at India Palace for many years, it has changed hands once in that time from Uncle to Nephew I believe. The food has always been excellent and never skimpy. The service is polite and quick, not pushy but always ready when needed. It is clean and tastefully decorated, the tables set with linen. The atmosphere lacks a little but it is all made up by the what is in my opinion the best Indian food in Windsor. I will only eat other Indian if India Palace is closed, in fact, I am celebrating my Birthday there TONIGHT with friends!
The service was slow and the waiter was very quiet but the food was great. If the place looked a bit nicer I am sure more would go. It isn't the most attractive place. I would go back for the food though!
My girlfriend and I visited this place on a whim, as we were both out of food. The restaurant was small and cozy, but not busy at all, as it was a week-night. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food came out soon after we had ordered. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The samosas were flavourful, the rice tender but not mushy, and the tikka masala was rich and creamy. Plus, the portions were generous enough to allow us to take some home for lunch the next day. We will definitely be visiting again!
The place is tiny is the only complaint, but the food is fresh, flavourful, and the service is really quite friendly, but never invasive.
This is the best curry house in town. 10/10 - I am a regular - I eat there once a week. Service is awesome, deserts are delicious, prices are extremely reasonable - very very consistent - never a bad meal - always a good choice!
THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. THE WAITER WAS REALLY RESPECTFUL AND NICE, SITTING IN THE RESTERAUNT WAS LIKE VISITING FAMILY. EVERYBODY WAS SO NICE AND PROVIDED US WITH EBEY THING WE NEEDED. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY IF YOU WANT A GOOD DINING EXPERIENCE VISIT INDIA PALACE. YOU WILL ENJOY EVERY MINUT GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE.
Thanks for review and recommendations, real helpful to our group. Our first visit will definitely bring us back again and again. We liked this place and service, a lot actually, good food and nice cozy family run restaurant! Very good dinning experience for Indian, much better than other restaurants, I have dined in Windsor, ALL good review prevails, big time.
Agree food and service is good, negative comments seem deliberate, never had any issue with food, and services.
I take out a lot from this restaurant and have never been disappointed. Amazing flavours and hot dishes. A treat every time!
Agree with the positive reviews and disagree with the negative reviews. I had been visiting India Palace at least once a week for many years. I have learned a lot about a cuisine from India Palace that was once a mystery to me, including the fact that many of my friends really have come to appreciate it now, despite their initial resistance. Way to go India Palace! The array has become so standard in lunch and dinner choice for me and my wife; we stop at India Palace at midday or dinner and find vegetable fritters, wide range of chicken dishes, creamed lentils, basmati rice pulav, lamb dishes all set out for the taking -- and at a very modest price. Definitely, the new owner has improved the food quality, choice of wine and beer, service and upgraded the place tremendously. Hope he sustain the tough economic times everyone facing in Windsor. The owner told me that India Palace serve food keeping in mind the customer needs for spice level, what their taste buds can like or dislike being first time or regular. Any visit for take out or a sit down dinner never walked out disappointed. After I peaked through all the reviews about Indian Palace and ALL other Indian Restaurants in Windsor, it appears someone is deliberately trying to discourage Indian Cuisine and Indian Restaurants in particular. It is not only India Palace, people are writing negative about, but about ALL the Indian Restaurants, which I believe is not just coincidence but deliberate. A particular restaurant can be bad but not Indian Cuisine.
I have been to this place a few times now. I can honestly say that since the new owner has taken over the food is very good and the atmosphere has greatly improved. I am away from home and often miss a good home cooked meal, India Palace provides good service and good food. I strongly disagree with the negative comments about the food since I have only had very tasteful and piping hot dishes.
I hadn't expected to find a cure for my Indian Cuisine dining doldrums in Windsor’s Ottawa Village. But a few bites into our entrees at India Palace, my friends and I fell silent with surprise and enjoyment -- for maybe 2 minutes -- before we all began commenting excitedly about how great the flavors were. The impressive thing was that all the dishes that night were very different, but all were delicious. Kingfisher Indian beer was an excellent choice to add more to enjoyment. The flavors were complex and distinctive, even ordered with mild spices. From the tasty vegetable pakoras to the memorable biryani, my meals here were a welcome wake-up call for the palate. The owner a young and smiling fellow served the food and told me that his family took over the restaurant from previous owner in December 2006, and did major overhaul to make this place look nice and expanded space next door to make it 80 seats, including a separate space for a groups of up to 40. Nice seating arrangement and great interior color combination, which provides nice dining atmosphere, India Palace feels upscale and polished. I’ll definitely visit this place again, excellent choice from large menu, I recommend this restaurant.
Visited India Palace with my friends, it was after 3 years. To my surprise this was very upscale restaurant now as compared to a small eating place. New owner told me that they did big renovations about six month back and expanded capacity to entertain parties up to 80 people. It is a very clean and above all food is fantastic and atmosphere is just wonderful. I’ll definitely visits this with my family and will say the best Indian Food and Restaurant in Windsor.
The food at this restaurant is delightful. The service is pleasant and informative. We have asked for ratings as to spiciness of dishes and been given honest, accurate information. The server is very knowledgable in terms of ingredients in dishes. Service is fast, food is hot and delicious and I wish I was there now!
Food was not bad. Service was OK, but need improvment. Have not find a good Indian Restaurant in Windsor Yet!
Very good food. Cozy atmosphere, and much attention from the server. Felt very home like... (but with much better food) Loved chatting with the server.
Best dish on the menu is Chicken Bhuna with onion naan and raita. If you like a little less zesty, try the butter chicken. They use boneless chicken, cream and other richer ingredients. These dishes at this restaurant are the best by far of any Indian place we have been to. Enjoy!
