Got my first takeaway, delicious, generous servings and great price, I will be a regular
What a great little place! Food was fantastic. Butter Chicken and garlic naan bread was perfect. And they have a great selection of wine too. Some of the best indian food we've had. Love the atmosphere too. It was a birthday dinner and we weren't rushed to leave - we could just enjoy the evening.
We are from the Toronto Area, and we plan occasional day trips to Fergus which always end with dinner at the Tandoori Grill. Food is always good - very flavourful and fresh, service is always good. We have eaten at MANY Indian restaurants in the Toronto area, and this compares favourably with most of them. To steal a line from a commercial, we find "It's worth the trip to Fergus"
My boyfriend and I eat here all the time. The food is fantastic, and the current staff are all very friendly and attentive. The food is a bit expensive, however very filling and there's usually leftovers. My boyfriend got food poisoning once, however it has been delicious every time since.
Very yummy! I went with my boyfriend for valentines day and it was the first time I'd ever eaten Indian. We loved it. We had lamb that tasted like it was smothered in cinnamon & brown sugar and was to die for. We also had a chicken dish that said it was hot on the menu and it was, a little too much so, but seeing as we are both spicy lovers we ate it and enjoyed it anyways. The Indian beer Cheetah was very good too. The only downside to the whole experience was that the place was very small (but still nice and fancy) and the meal was expensive.
This place survives because it's the only Indian for miles. The best it ever gets is moderate, and at worst it's terrible. I've only ever had take out from here so can't comment on table service. Service though is always abrupt and unfriendly. Not genuine Indian food at all. I tried it several times in the hope that it would get better. It didn't! Poor.
Edible is the best review I can give this restaurant. The food was insipid. No taste. I have absolutely no idea how people can say that the food is good. We ordered takeout and although the portion size of the entree was adequate, the starter was very small. The price of the meal was outrageous for the quality of the food. My husband and I are from the UK and the only restaurtant we have found so far that can match the quality of Indian food in the UK is Nawab in Streetsville, Mississauga. Disappointed.
The food is great!!! make sure you make reservations on the weekend because they get pretty busy..its a small restaurant but for sure its worth to try! their lunch specials are good not only the food but also the price..Every time we come to Fergus we try the Tandoori!!
One of my friends introduced me to Fergus Tandoori Grill and since then it has been my favorite restaurant around Guelph-Kitchener area. We usually start off with some delicious appetizers as samosas and veggie pakoras ( they have many starters), plus 3 different sauces that they give you with the appetizers. Our mains were also phenomenal. And what's good about this is that you can ask them to prepare your food from very mild to extra hot (your choice). The Beef Vindaloo came pipping hot and the meat was literally melting in our mouths. The Mixed Vegetables was very fresh and the Sag Paneer and Bharta verrryyyy tasty, but the highlight of our meal was Butter Chicken and Chicken Dansak. This two dishes were recommended by our waitress and I was really impressed of how good it was. Also, I was really impressed with the service considering how crazy-busy it was that day. The atmosphere was great, you could really notice on people's faces that they were enjoying themselves. I would definitely go back. Highly recommended!
Heard good things that were absolutely not true. Thought we'd try takeout for lunch. Ordered the Chicken Tikka - specifically said appetizer size but were charged for for the dinner size. There was not even a whole breast of chicken, so if that was the dinner size, it was pathetic. Also ordered the mulligatawny and naan bread. Blandest soup ever, and the bread was chewy. Way overpriced, crappy food and the staff was very rude when the error in the order was explained. Will never go back and will tell others not to bother as well.
The absence of negative comments on this restaurant must be due to the fact that people prefer to report positive information. I was initially impressed by the reviews both online and through word-of-mouth from several different people, including mere strangers. Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming, if not disappointing, from start to finish. The meal itself was mediocre. The Aloo Ghobi, a potato and cauliflower dish, was lacking in potato and cauliflower. More than 50% of the bowl was filled with onion, followed by another high percentage of oil, rather than 'sauce'. The Sag Paneer was dull, again with the taste of onion drowning out any other flavours. Possibly the most inadequate part of the meal was the rice. It was over-steamed and not as one would expect from an Indian restaurant, especially one that has been so highly praised. The service was sufficient, however, I highly recommend reviewing your bill before paying it, even if that involves asking to see it before your total is entered into the debit machine and you are handed the pin pad. There was a substantial error on the bill. The Tandoori grill falls short!
The food is far superior to any Indian restaurant I have dined at. I take my wife there as often as I can as the food is amazing. It closes down for the afternoon so decide to go for lunch or dinner nothing betwen 2:00 p.m. and I think 5:00 p.m. I have travelled around Ontario and apart from the odd restaurant in Toronto Tandoori Grill beats them all including the myriad of indian joints in Kingston. Fabulous little spot with friendly staff and fresh food. You gotta wear the stretchy pants to go here.
Excellent to dine in or take out. Since the Rose is not around everyday where was a veggie to go? Well, to Fergus, the Tandoori is soooooo goood.
The best Indian food around for many, many miles.this place is worth the drive.we drive an hour to get to this place and it's well worth the drive.the food, what ever you order is top notch.a lot of care goes into this food.I recommend every thing on the menu. And the service is great.the only draw back is when we eat there in the winter,it gets cold when you sit by the door.it is a small place so make sure you call ahead,it gets very busy.
Visited the Tandoori Grill with a few friends from out of town. They insisted that they take me and my other half out for dinner, We suggested Indian..they were game, Tandoori Grill it is. We didnt have a reservation though they were happy to have us. As always the food was delicious. Service was a bit slow though it was busy and we hadn't made a reservation. It really didn't matter though, were all trying to catch up. Overall we were happy, will be back once again.
I visit the Tandoori Grill all of the time, we go with my inlaws and we love it! I had Indian food for the first time ever there and I love going back! I have never been disappointed with their food or service!! My husband and I have tried butter chicken at 4 or 5 other Indian restaurants and none of them have even come close to the butter chicken at the Tandoori Grill!! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!!
Ordered a take out meal for 3 people which was enough for 3 adults and 2 small children. Could have used about 3 times more rice for all that delicious sauce and the naan dried out (maybe because I had to drive it home??) but overall the food here is excellent. We enjoy it each time. I will return.
One of the best india rest. I have ever ate in,will come back again soon
We had a FANTASTIC meal here! The food was great, service was great, and we thought it was far better Indian food than other Waterloo, or even Toronto restaurants we have tried. Well worth the drive!
The Tandoori has this new christmas menu which was absoloutley amazing. We got wine, dessert and a four course meal for a really reasonable price, I'm impressed thanks Tandoori, our waitress was also very nice!!
