Love this place!!!! The only complaint I have is they don’t take reservations after 6pm. Food is great! Love the chicken parm special on Thursday nights
went there with my husband and 2 kids for dinner from a recommendation of a friend..we are not from the area and from Toronto. right away our service was horrible! there was a large group of locals sitting nearby and they had a baby..our waitress spent more time holding the baby then she did serving us and ignored us the whole time. the mother of the baby who was sitting maybe 5 feet away proceeded to change her baby's poopy diapers on the chair at her table rather then getting up and taking the baby to the baby to use the washroom change table! the waitress had NO problems with that! It took forever to get our food or drinks! she messed up our order the food was VERY SALTY ! my husband and I had steaks and they were full of salt! we will not return! trashy environment
When I passed this place on my way south from Huntsville (took the back roads) I wondered if the large number of cars outside might have been because it was the only place that was still open at the extremely late hour of 7pm[/sarcasm]. I had stopped at a number of places and they were all closed. But I was hungry so I pulled a quick u-turn and wheeled into the parking lot. I was greeted and seated promptly, and offered a drink before the meal. I was pleased to find that they had a local brew, Lake of Bays Brewing Company Pale Ale, so that was ordered. I decided to eat light rather than going for a big meal, and decided on the barbecued chicken on a bun and the soup of the day - spicy chicken. It certainly was spicy, but very good! The chicken on a bun was simple and the meat was done just right. Unfortunately the waitress seemed to have forgotten about me, and I spent quite some time trying to catch her eye when I decided to have the remainder of the bun wrapped for later. I was finally noticed by a different waitress and my request was accommodated with a smile. I'll be staying overnight in Minden in July, and I'll take my wife here for supper. Think I'll try the steak next time.
Amazing food, incredible service. We've been all over the area, and nothing compares. You'd pay double or triple at home in Toronto for a similar product. A must go if you're anywhere nearby!!
We went for a fall colours cruise on Thanksgiving day. The pepper mill came up on restaurantica as a decent looking steak house. Maybe they were too busy. Service was slow and inattentive. Beef Tenderloin medallions turned out to be bits of beef covered in mushroom gravy. Wasn't what I expected. The server did not explain what it was. The French onion soup was sort of bland. The baked potatoes were under cooked. Maybe they were having a bad day but I did not have a good visit.
I have a cottage in this area and always make a point of stopping into this place for a great meal. I love their steaks. Service is always friendly and quick. I haven't tried the pasta yet but it looks wonderful. Every time I go I just have to have that steak. Costs about half what I pay in Toronto.
Every time we are up at the cottage we go for dinner at the Peppermill. The food is just great! The service is great and we love the atmosphere. The pastas they offer is really delicious and the raspberry vinaigrette is just out of this world! I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy great food.
