For Berm McCandless, growing up on a farm provided not only the chance to work with his hands, but ample opportunity for problem-solving. “When you're on a farm, there are always things you have to deal with and troubleshoot,” he notes. “Something always comes up – a head-scratcher. You need to do some investigating, and figure out how to make it work.”
And that hands-on knowledge has served him in good stead, on a path that has taken him from drummer, to carpenter in the film industry, to owner of New Evolutions Contracting, a firm that specializes in stylish, economic renovations for home and business.
“I'm not sure exactly when I got the idea in my head,” he muses. “I've always enjoyed the creative aspect. And there's always troubleshooting to be done with renovation work, too. It's not like working on a brand-new project that you build from the ground up.”
