Who doesn’t love a great set of jewellery and accessories to go with their outfits? That's what Giselle Santoro and James Monroe were thinking when they took over The Plaid Giraffe in 2004. When Giselle heard it was up for sale, she could hardly hide her excitement. “Most of the charges on my monthly credit card bill were from the store,” she says. “I loved shopping there for my jewellery.” It was the perfect fit. She and James bought the shop and enlisted their daughter Josee and son Damon to help in the day to day operations.

Pick one pair of sparkly earrings (preferably dangling, but that’s negotiable, depending on how you wear your hair when you go out on the town), one necklace that you know will work with the neckline of your favourite party dress and one gleaming bracelet that you can wear to draw attention to yourself even with your coat on. Done!
View this Smart ListThis is such a fun store, full of jewellery, bags (including vegan purses and wallets!), skincare items and more. I especially love their selection of Tango travel stuff – wallets, purses, makeup bags, neck pillows, passport holders, etc. – and think that anything from this collection makes a fantastic gift for the mom who likes to travel or has a trip coming up soon. You’ll also find necklaces, earrings and bracelets here that you likely won’t see anywhere else in the city.
View this Smart ListThis fun Whyte Avenue store is small but full of great gift ideas, including purses, jewellery, socks and travel accessories. A lot of the jewellery brands they carry, such as Jugar N Spice Jewelry and Druzy feature natural stones, and they also stock cute stud earrings by Kosh. They often only get in one of each of their pieces of jewellery, so check their Facebook page regularly for updates on new items.
