If you’re tired of being cooped up all day, get some fresh air and enjoy nature at the John Janzen Nature Centre. For only $7 per adult, you can try geocaching, check out critters at the pond, look at wildflowers and go on a nature walk. Pack a picnic, as the snack vending machines here don’t exactly satisfy your hunger after exploring the great outdoors.
I love their unique spin on an indoor playground and focus on learning about nature. There are birch trees to climb, flowers to pollinate, beaver dams, toadstools and more! The Discovery Zone has successfully recreated the outdoors in a fun and creative way, perfect to play in during those long winter months. This playground is open to children aged 0 to 10.
There are both indoor and outdoor elements to this centre, making it great for exploring year-round. The beekeeping exhibit is both indoors and out, and shows you where the sweet stuff originates. The pond allows you to see water fowl and frogs, up close and personal. It’s a nice way to explore nature in a controlled setting outdoors, especially if you are not the most intrepid outdoor adventurer to begin with – hey, some people don’t get outdoors much.
