That sentiment can best describe the journey Dream Image Signs has travelled. Owner Roberto Gomez started the business after he lost his job as a manager in the telecommunication industry in 2005. “I always wanted to own a business even if it was selling pencils,” he recalls. “I had a background in marketing and graphic design and I didn’t want to be at a desk.”
He started small, doing what he could with the help of his family. “I started in my parent’s basement out near Strathmore,” he says. “I would do most of the work in my home office in Calgary and then I would have to go to my parent’s farm where they had a room for me to put a big printer.”
After a few years, Dream Image Signs was able to find a permanent location and continued to grow. “I don’t say it with a lot of pride that I started from my parent’s basement, but I’m grateful that I’m able to continue having a great business and happy customers,” adds Roberto.
